I think all of my current and possible future clients already know but I just wanted to make an announcement on the blog to make sure everyone is in the know. Come 2009 my prices are going up. Anything booked (meaning booking me for dates in 2009) before next week Wednesday, December 10th, 2008, will lock in the cheaper 2008 prices. Anything booked after that date will be subject to the new 2009 prices.
I do want to let you know why prices are going up so you don’t think I just do this randomly.
1. Next year I will be paying more taxes to the Chilean government.
2. I’m coming at you with new and improved camera and lens equipment.
3. Camera and lens maintenance – I’ve been doing a lot more shooting which does take it’s toll and requires more frequent cleanings (which are expensive, especially in Chile!).
3. I am taking on lots more clients, but in order to give you the same customer service, meaning fast turn around with your photos, I need a computer that runs fast with my photo editing software.
4. I also keep all client photos stored for a year so that in case anything happens to your photo CD or the computer which you have your photos stored on, you have back up. I would never want you to lose all your beautiful pictures! However, with an increasing client load this means I need to invest in more storage space.
5. I never count my transportation costs against what I make, I used to do that out of personal pocket and it gets expensive either paying for gas to drive myself or taking a taxi to sessions all over Santiago (I don’t take all my equipment on public transportation). Those costs will now be covered in the session fee.
I will be carefully calculating and unveiling new costs starting in Jan. of 2009, but I can tell you that wedding prices will not go up by too much. I’m mostly just shifting packages around and adding and taking away a few things. However, I’m expecting the cost of the session fee (boudoir, family portraits, engagements, etc.) to more or less double. If you book now with a 50% deposit of your session fee now, however, you will lock in 2008 prices.
